    damn ..
i never defrag for more than a year .. :p

look at the result of my D:\ ..
    filled with fragments..
that explains the slow down i've been experiencing lately.. :haha:
my friend owes me a lot because i'm temporally keeping couple of gigs of his files for him

 HAHAHA that is horrible!!! defrag more.

I do a scan disk atleast once a week about 3am (have it scheduled for once a week and while i'm asleep)
Defrag, I do once a month. I also have that one scheduled for the first day of each month from 4am-6am.

defrag doesnt take long when you are on NTFS ..

my C:\ took maybe 2 hours or less.. ~40gb partition

now to see how long will my D:\ take .. :haha:

 I'm using FAT32. 74.5GB hard disk with 25GB of space used. :p

if i'm not mistaken NTFS is way faster when it comes to defrag ..
that explains why i use NTFS for all my drives..

Please show me your defragment analysis :) .. thx

you have so much free space..

anyway .. just defraged my J:\ .. very fast in deed..
    its not messy either :)

looks like i need to free some space on D:\ before i can defrag (optimized) ..

need at least 15% do perform optimally

The space used could have been more if I didn't burn some gigabytes of songs and video onto CD-Rs and deleting a whole lot of files that I seldom access.

NTFS give syou more space on the hard drive as in it doesn't waste as much space as FAT 16 or 32 does.

FAT 16/32 make a table and list where everything si found. NTFS saves that list with a file and points to where soemthing else it etc... (I think I got that right) And Also NTFS doesn't need Defraged as much as a FAT 16/32

24% isn't too bad. Should have enough free space. i know I've gotten mine down to like 10% free. (its was a slave drive though not my master.)
