    I work in Japan since I was a student last 8 years.

    The whole idea of speed traps is not safety, it's to make money! See motorists.org

    NY raked in over 1.2 million tickets last year - lets say each ticket is on average $150. 1,200,000x150 = $180,000,000 in ticket revenue. Now that's some serious money!

    In fact, in the US the whole speeding ticket scheme is illegal, under Common Law the only way for you to be liable is for the court to produce an person who has filed a verified complaint. But you won't hear about that from the police or government officials... why? Because they're profiting from their little road tax scheme.

    Yeah it is about making money. That's why the police here (and I'll bet all over the world too) have monthly quotas to meet. :doh:
