Well... thinking of using this so that I can use messenger in my office. Just wondering what's the need of using this software. Will it open a hole to my company's network while I'm using it?
i use http tunneling in my college .. it basically redirects the traffic trough http to a server on the internet ..
maybe sure the MIS people doesnt realise the link is a http tunnel i use without rish because i can always use another NIC, change pc name .. change IP .. hahahahha .. so far i've been hogging my college network without problem
i'm not sue bout HTTP-Tunnel .. i forgot what tunnelling software i used .. but it acts like a local proxy server directing traffic using HTTP through the college's proxy server but its a bit slow
Must be the HTTP-Tunnel. That one only 1.5kB/s maximum speed, unless you subscribe. I'm using HTTPort. Sometimes work with Trillian, sometimes doesn't. Even when I already added the MSN and Yahoo and also ICQ port. SSH? Will try that. Thanks. Any other good ones?
Using HTTPort now, can connect with Trillian to Yahoo and ICQ with no problem, but not MSN. Even when I added MSN's host (messenger.hotmail.com) and port 1083 in. Btw, Hyper... your SSH see until I also blur.
Hahah SSH tunnel need to have an SSH server wan...so unles your work place has an SSH server (meaning a linux machine at the border) then only you can do SSH tunnel...but why do u want to make a tunnel for messenger?
Yeah, that's why it's no good lo. Using back httport now, able to use it with Trillian. But Trillian's MSN Messenger cannot use http proxy to connect. So, I tried using Miranda instead. It worked! But today when I connect at office again, it somehow can't work, the Miranda MSN cannot connect. Only Yahoo and ICQ can. Why do I want to make a tunnel for messenger? You meant in general ICQ, Yahoo and MSN? Well, because I'm behind proxy and the company blocks most of the messengers ports.
LOL! But Miranda not stable. Now can't even connect to MSN, using HTTPort I meant. But finally I got MSN Messenger to work with HTTPort after I added MSN's port in HTTPort. Now using Trillian+Msn Messenger with HTTPort.
Actually you can have a SSH server anywhere in the world, as long as you have a client to connect to it and forward the ports, like putty So if your office doesn't have a linux ssh server, go find a nice nice friend who has one and pester him for an account SSH port forwarding's like.. my lifesaver so many times, especially when FTP is blocked in my hostel and I am a heavy FTP user.. so.. tunnel lar!
I've onced tried HTTP-tunneling but I don't remember which program I used. But I remember for sure that it worked very very slow!!!
