    intel pentium D 940 LGA775 3.2ghz 800fsb 2x2MB cache

    or

    intel core 2 duo E6300 LGA775 1.86ghz 1066fsb 2MB cache

which one is better for performance and gaming?
    also for overclocking...!

You mean they can be compared?

i just want to know the difference between intel conroe E6300 1.86ghz and intel dual core cpu's (pentium D 940 3.2ghz)...
    which one is better...
it looks like the price doesn't much different...
i've heard a lot about conroe...
they seems like good for overclocking...
i just need more info about it...

E6300 can be overclocked, but not that much because of the low multiplier. But it's definitely a better processor than the Pentium D for sure. There's absolutely no reason to buy a Pentium now, even for costs reasons. If you can't afford a Conroe, don't buy anything until you can afford! :thumb:

Why is it absolutely no reason to buy a Pentium processor?

Pentium is old gen, hot and slow.

surely you're an AMD fanboy right?
    hehe...
    just asking...
as i heard intel will overcome amd in cpu's technology in a few weeks...
    am i right...!

Huh? I meant to say don't buy Pentium. All new Intel processors are Core or Core 2. Pentium 4s are old news.

Err.. Try reading Chai's post properly.

He isn't asking you to buy AMD. He's telling you the Pentiums are dinosaurs, compared to the new Core 2 Duo processors. :)

    sorry about that chai...
    thanx for the info...

Anyways, don't ever buy that Pentium D now :haha: :haha:

    Core 2 Duo rox!

i never used amd processor before...
but i do think sometimes amd are much better than intel...
look at the benchmark before intel conroe processors was release...
    amd overcome top intel cpu's...
but look at this past week cpu's benchmarks...
    intel dominate the benchies...
the things that i hate about amd is the cpu temp is quite hot...(before overclock)
    i luv overclocking...
i think i might fried my mobo if i overclock amd cpu...
i heard a lot about amd from my friends(using amd cpu's)....
always fried up their hardware such as mobos, rams and cards (using pci slot)...
i also heard that amd has good cpu for gaming before intel conroe came out...

i hope there is a guy helping me to understand amd cpu's!
    haha...

*to psykhotik and chai...sorry for everything!*

er.... AMD processors are hot? lol. That was during the thunderbird Athlon days. If someone still tells you the Athlon 64s are very hot and can fry easily when overclock, slap him

Before Core 2 Duo was released, AMD has the cooler CPUs compared to Intel's. The Athlon 64 is much cooler in fact and it was much faster than P4s :thumb:

but now Core 2 Duo totally rapes Athlon 64 :haha:

    OWNAGE!

Well actually prior to Conroe, AMD chips are A LOT cooler... :D Better than PresHots... :p

And AMDs being unreliable, this is my third AMD system (two platforms, three sockets) and I've never had problems. They some had problems in the past but that is ancient history.

But A64s are a bit harder to OC. Killing hardware is a tell tale sign of people who have no idea what they're doing... :D

    thanx a lot dude...
now only i know the real thing about amd...
now i'll consider changing my signature...
    haha...
    ---
    about core 2 duo...
i've read about it and it says this processor use less power than other intel cpu's...(i hate prescott)
that mean to use this cpu,it doesn't need powerful PSU...
    am i right?

  17. Max_87

    Max_87 huehuehue

It uses MUCH lesser power than the stupid prescott :haha: even lesser than Athlon 64 when it is fully loaded! Athlon 64 is cooler during idle when cool'n'quiet is active though.

hm... about the PSU... this is a very subjective thing. You need to consider the other components in your PCs too.

i'll give u info about my future rig without PSU and mobo...

    Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 1.86ghz
    7900gt PCI-e gfx
OCZ gold line or Corsair XMS 1GB
    Zalman CPU cooler
    200GB SATA HD

i need help from u guys...
for good mobo(hopefully SLI) and PSU...
    my budget - USD184 (RM 700)
help me find the stuff...from Malaysia IT retailers!

RM700 for? You can check www.lowyat.net for the prices just to give you a rough idea how much they are going to cost.
