Hi , this is my 1st post at here. i had used this streamyx service for more than 1 year. But there is some problem going on in this 1 year time. the problem i facing is ISP can't assign a WAN IP address for me every 3 or 4 times per month. after 24 hours, i can get assigned a WAN IP & can using it normally. since its not a big problem for me, so i didnt make any complain. BUT the problem is, since few days ago, it happened to me again. BUT this time, it didn't go back to normal after 24hours, it is more than 5 days already that i didnt assigned a WAN IP address by my ISP, which makes me only can using 56k dial up only for this moment. So is it the TMnet (ISP provider) problem ??or my PC problem??
Is your computer connected to the modem directly? If so, what's the error message you get when you fail to connect?
Well, for troubleshsooting purposes, you need to use a PC to connect DIRECTLY to the modem and use it in bridge mode to connect to Streamyx. Remember, you need to switch it from the router mode to the bridge mode, and use Windows XP to connect to Streamyx. If you can do that successfully, then the problem lies with the modem/router, rather than Streamyx.
I am facing the same problem as well. The same incident had happend to me for a few times already. Sometimes I waited a few minutes and I get to assign a WAN IP. Sometimes I need to wait for days. Sometimes I even get a wrong login and and password but I've checked and my login name and password is correct?
For the past two days, I can only get assign a WAN IP address in the morning and nite. Can't get the WAN IP address during afternoon from 1 or 2pm till 5 or 6pm. I normally get stuck at: 01/01/1970 00:00:39> WAN Auto Connection Attempt 01/01/1970 00:00:39> PPP2 PPPoE PADI Sent 01/01/1970 00:00:39> PPP1 PPPoE PADI Sent 01/01/1970 00:00:33> PPP5 PPPoE PADI Sent 01/01/1970 00:00:33> PPP4 PPPoE PADI Sent 01/01/1970 00:00:33> PPP3 PPPoE PADI Sent Below is the log file when everything is OK. 01/28/2007 23:04:38> Received time from Time Server 128.138.140.44 01/01/1970 00:00:43> PPP1 Session is up. 01/01/1970 00:00:43> DNS: Add IP address 202.188.1.5 (Auto discovered) 01/01/1970 00:00:43> DNS: Add IP address 202.188.0.133 (Auto discovered) 01/01/1970 00:00:42> No Static Session Information is defined. 01/01/1970 00:00:42> NAT/NAPT Session Start: interface ppp1, WAN IP is 60.50.39.25 01/01/1970 00:00:42> PPP1: DNS Secondary IP address is 202.188.1.5 01/01/1970 00:00:42> PPP1: DNS Primary IP address is 202.188.0.133 01/01/1970 00:00:42> PPP1: PPP Gateway IP address is 219.93.218.177 01/01/1970 00:00:42> PPP1: PPP IP address is 60.50.39.25 01/01/1970 00:00:42> PPP1 PAP Authentication success 01/01/1970 00:00:39> PPP1 PPPoE Session is established. 01/01/1970 00:00:39> PPP2 PPPoE PADI Sent 01/01/1970 00:00:39> PPP1 PPPoE PADI Sent 01/01/1970 00:00:33> PPP5 PPPoE PADI Sent 01/01/1970 00:00:33> PPP4 PPPoE PADI Sent 01/01/1970 00:00:33> PPP3 PPPoE PADI Sent 01/01/1970 00:00:31> ADSL connected 01/01/1970 00:00:31> ATM layer is up, cell delineation achieved 01/01/1970 00:00:31> ATM Connected 01/01/1970 00:00:00> CfgMgr: 'WlanSec.dlz' module not found. 01/01/1970 00:00:00> CfgMgr: 'Prism.dlz' module loaded. 01/01/1970 00:00:00> CfgMgr: 'Apimage.dlz' module loaded. 01/01/1970 00:00:00> CfgMgr: 'Washer.dlz' module loaded. 01/01/1970 00:00:00> CfgMgr: 'Upnp.dlz' module not found. 01/01/1970 00:00:00> CfgMgr: 'Shtm.dlz' module loaded. 01/01/1970 00:00:00> CfgMgr: 'Console.dlz' module loaded. 01/01/1970 00:00:00> Initialized Dynamic NAPT. 01/01/1970 00:00:00> ATM: Setting up vcc4, VPI=1, VCI=32 01/01/1970 00:00:00> ATM: Setting up vcc3, VPI=1, VCI=33 01/01/1970 00:00:00> ATM: Setting up vcc2, VPI=8, VCI=35 01/01/1970 00:00:00> ATM: Setting up vcc1, VPI=0, VCI=100 01/01/1970 00:00:00> ATM: Setting up vcc0, VPI=0, VCI=35 01/01/1970 00:00:00> ATM: Detected 01/01/1970 00:00:00> Ethernet Device 0 Detected
Yap. it is very hard for me to get connected during afternoon time around 1 till 6pm. Even I get connected, I'll be kick out in a short while. But the speed is still OK once you get connected. I've call them to file a report but no use. SNR margin during the afternoon time is always very bad, less than 15 most of the time. Sometime even go to - figures and you'll see the ADSL signal blinking. But morning and nite time are OK. Close to 40 for upstream and 20 for downstream.
Darn.. That sounds bad. IMHO, you should keep hounding them until they do something about it. The key is to keep bugging them. Bug them until they get sick enough to send a technician to check it out.
