The devious little buggers at Maxis just tried to sneak another charge under our noses. My brother sent me a message this morning (February 26th) that he received an SMS from Maxis informing him that they would be charging him 0.05 cents per SMS beginning March 1 - just 3 days later. This was what he received : To disable this service, you will have to do this : The thing was I never received this warning, and was apt to pass it off as another hoax. But to be sure, I called Maxis up and was duly informed that : Phew, I thought, that saves me a lot of effort. Otherwise, I would have to manually disable this feature for all four lines under my account. It should be easy enough to do for my mobile number as well as Jenny's, but I would also have to do it for my parents (who are under my account) and they live in Penang! It's not going to be easy to teach them how to do it over the phone... However, my brother later informed me that he taught my parents how to do it and they discovered that their accounts had the NotifyMe service activated! This was not what Maxis informed me when I asked them to check if any of the numbers had this service activated. They informed me that NONE of my numbers had this service activated. I just checked Jenny's NotifyMe status and guess what - it was ENABLED too! The bastards LIED! However, when I tried to process my own NotifyMe cancellation, it failed. It gave me the error message : Looks like I will have to call 123 (Maxis) again to cancel my NotifyMe service (which I never knew I had...). Learn from my experience - NEVER TRUST WHAT MAXIS TELLS YOU!!! :X
Yeah... I hate this kind of tactics. Same goes to my citibank account... They are always sending me stuffs and also sending me cash advance checks. Now they also raised my credit limit I hate CitiBank... I wont go into details, all I can say is they pissed me off. American Express is 10000% better Citibank USA in terms of Customer Service.
just the other day i cancel some stupid free mms. i have another telco n when i swap back to 012. Maxis welcomes me ( funny this part. they somehow know i change ? ) n send me some settings including the free mms. guess what few days ago it send me at 6.30am and the last saturday 9am. both while i was sleeping. called them up n cancelled it already
I tried calling Maxis at least 10 times throughout the night but instead of redirecting me to a service personnel, I got silence. This morning, I called them up to give them a piece of my mind, and guess what... They have a new policy! Instead of requiring us to manually deactivate the NotifyMe service, Maxis will now automatically disable it for everyone on March 1, 2011! Apparently, so many people called them up to complain about this issue yesterday that the Maxis management got the message and changed their plans. So now, we do not have to manually disable the service as Maxis would automatically disable it for us. Funny how they are now able to do it on their end, when just yesterday, they claim that their system does not allow them to disable NotifyMe for us... Even so, I wasn't pleased with the whole thing as I have yet to receive the warning message about NotifyMe (which they claimed to have sent out to everyone), and I have also not received the new SMS that they claim to have sent clarifying that the NotifyMe service would now be automatically disabled. Either way - MAJOR FAIL, Maxis! The good news is that it proves that complaints do have an effect. People power rules!
Until today, I have yet to receive a single SMS from Maxis about NotifyMe. I didn't receive the one that was supposed to inform me about disabling it. Neither did I receive the one you just received - informing you that you will have to activate it if you want it.
Happy birthday facepalm it ranges from have a nice day, to some loves pic, etc etc. haven`t got the time to call them up again
Just make sure you are not charged for them. When I first started with Maxis, they were charging me for RECEIVING SMSes from services that I never even subscribed to.
By year end, Digi and Celcom would be sharing a whole lot of network equipments and coverage will be a whole lot more improved. So, DiGi is definitely the way to go.
Yeah, I heard about that. Hopefully, it will improve DiGi's coverage so I can migrate when iPhone 5 comes along!
