I would go with the LGA1156 motherboard and the Core i7-860. :thumb:

This board is not bad, go for it! :thumb:

Besides that, those newer i-Series boards often have more stuff inside, like USB3.0. :thumb:

If you are going to i7, I highly recommend 1366 instead of 1156.

1366~? :silenced: i still considering between i5-750 & i7-860, shld i dump in abit mre budget on it~ if go for i7-930 wif 1366, i hv up mre budget~ :(

the most taxing applications i will be using will be H.264 1080p video editing/ encoding & abit of 3D modeling/ rendering~ :silenced:

i5 750 is good enough for most.

But it's pointless to go for i7 860, as you are only saving on the motherboard cost. DDR3, CPU is about the same price.

ok~ the cheapest combo for 1366 system is i7-930 & ECS X58B-A2 which is S$661 oppose to i7-860 wif gigabyte P55A-UD3 at S$637~

is ECS mobo worth considering~? :silenced:

Hmm.. ECS is basically a budget board. If you are going to go with LGA 1366, better spend a little more to get a good board.

If you can afford it, that would be a better choice. :thumb:

if i get the GA-X58A-UD3R, is it recommend to run triple channels~? thot of buying dual rams bundle first & wait for the ram price to drop to buy 3rd ram nxtime~ :silenced:

Going dual-channel first is fine. The Core i7 has a tremendous amount of memory bandwidth even with just two channels running.

Gigabyte is definitely a much better choice. But it is still very expensive...

If you don't play games, then there's no rush to upgrade the graphics card. :thumb:
