Steal This Wi-Fi

    I don't think I'd want to take chances like these in Malaysia... :mrgreen:

    The moment Malaysians find an open network, they will start downloading... and you'll be left to wonder.. why my Streamyx so slow one?!!! :nuts:

    hmm.. WEP/WPA encypted networks can be hacked easily, I thought?

    I'm using Mac filter mode..I doubt anyone is able to connect to my AP(access point) though

    i also use mac filter mode. hope it's safe enough.

    According to ZDnet, the MAC address can be viewed in clear text by a packet sniffing software :doh:
    From there, the hacker can spoof his wireless adapter's MAC address and gain access to the wireless network

    You should not use MAC address filtering by itself.

    Think the best way to don't have thoses kind of problems is don't brought an wireless router if not necessery rofl XD

    well, then maybe mac filer plus password is a little safer?

    will check out how stuff is set up at home.

    wireless Lan is not very safe.Everyone know that.Now IEEE develope some ways to keep the infomation safe.

    3 Months ago i did test with my friends and somes laptops... on 95 wireless networks we discovered in about... 1 km of road 69 wasent protected.

    And im talking about Montreal... who is an big city

    So think about New York and all thoses BIG CITIES who're vulnerable(as i think) .

    MAC filtering + WPA is the way to go

    WPA + at least 32 character password changed often + no broadcast of SSID + MAC Filtering + Turn down antenna power + change default admin password. Do all that and you might keep the average joe out.
