In homage to the now-deceased 9800Se/Pro of Psykhotik, and with a little suggestion from Papercut, here's this thread! My dead PC hardware : Aside from all my old Pentium 3s and 2s, as well as 386s and 486s, there has been my LG CD-RW, my first Nvidia Riva TNT2 (those cost 500 bucks when they first came out, SIX years ago. ), and my Seagate 4GB harddrive. The last one was especially saddening. All my old poems and stories from almost my entire time at high school were GONE.
i see that many things died... LOL ... hmmmmmmmm my dead pc hardwares : 3 mice..... (wear and tear?) Conner 200MB hard disk (typo bout another thread with 800mb)(i killed it) Quantum ProDrive ,... 80MB ... yea. 80MB .. (i killed another one .. i swear .. it was an accident ..) Maxtor 2gb hard disk (it died) 17" Packard Bell monitor .. it sux.. (it died too ) 16x NEC cd-rom (i "cacated" it coz it refuse to work properly) retired hardwares a super old cd-rom (hmm time for an upgrade) 40x acer cd-rom (it refuse to work) 24x10x40 acer cd-rw (another lazy bum) a 386 pc.. .. still working (ermmm .. too old . have to retire and let the newer generation continue their duties ) resting hardwares 4.3gb quantum fireball creative riva tnt 2 aztech soundcard with builtin modem + radio card (ISA) creative soundblaster pro pnp (i think..) (ISA) 4x Creative / Matshita drive... thats all i remembered
Hmmm.... My dead hardware.... I havent really killed anything. Coz I'm super careful. But sometimes it gets FUBAR and thats outta my control. The only dead thing I remember is my old GF2MX. That died coz it had a sucky fan and the fan died and no one knew about it until garbage came out...
Hmm.. My dead hardware... So far only had a few ABIT motherboards that went nutty on me. The memory slots began acting up so I retired them. Also had a Celeron 300A die on me. Plus a couple of memory modules (EDO, SDRAM, DDR SDRAM). My ABIT NF7-S Rev. 1.2 and ABIT Siluro GeForce4 Ti 4200-8X died not so long ago. But got them RMAed. More recently, my Toshiba M30 notebook's combo drive went to digital heaven/hell.
I hope my Radeon is in digital heaven... Its served me well in its short time and actually one of the only things that never actually gave me a hard time...
RIP: TDK Cyclone Internal CD-RW 48/24/48, September 2002 - February 2004 Asus CD-RW 52/32/52, February 2004 - July 2004 (both killed by a poor quality GTA:VC CD) 256MB DDR266, September 2002 - August 2004 (stopped working after I replaced it, no idea why ) 3.5" floppy drive, from my old Pentium MMX. 1994-2004 On the way to the graveyard: Proview 17" CRT. Sometimes the colour becomes very strange,so I have to whack it on the side to get it to display properly. My old MMX has a whole heap of antique parts inside because it's an upgraded 486 machine. 5.25" floppy, Creative Sound Blaster 16 (HUGE sound card). One day when my dad stops using it, I wll take them out and photograph.
My poor Celeron 600MHz It's able to run itself at 1200MHz ROTFL and a dead motherboard short-circuited it.
My precious 3.2GB Quantum hdd. It fell off a box, 5 cm above the ground when I was transfering files to my friend's pc. It died suddenly... I never had the chance to say goodbye...
More dead hardware : LG Studioworks 17-inch CRT, MSI i845 P4 mobo, Nokia 8250 (does that count? (= ), Seagate 10GB harddrive, Pentium 4 2.0 Ghz A processor.
I killed two PSUs recently (crap one anyway ) one crap PSU dead quite some time ago two dead P3 mobo hm......
*bump* Maximus, I came across this thread on ocforums. Sounds like your Northwood's fate was shared by many others... http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=115166 But it sounds like most of these people were seriously overvolting...what was your Vcore?
Hehe, i almost forgot about this. It just died. I dont remember the Vcore and all that. WAsnt much of a geek back then. Didnt really get INTO the hardware side of it till i started studying IT.
*bump* my Western Digital Caviar 13.6GB just died today 27 Feb 2000 - 18 Nov 2004 started using it in March..
Ach.. It was an old drive. Sorry to hear about that though. But think positively. That's not as bad as losing a new drive, especially a big one loaded with all your data.
well its not dead yet .. but i think yesterday it was just a warning it was failing .. :O .. oh no .. i dont have enough space to transfer all the data
