This device cannot start. (Code 10) - plz help me!~!

    ok .. i have firewire ..... & it doesnt start up .....
    sometimes it works ... some times it doesnt .....
    what should i do?.......
    i'm using win xp pro

    Well, this happens ussually when there's IRQ conflicts. Best solution is to try swapping the firewire card to another PCI slot. ussually it helps.

    you can also try to force XP to reinstall the drivers for the card again. Just remove it from the list of hardware devices.

    also check to see if there's another hardware that have that same problem (IRQ conflict)

    Remove the device first from the device manager and re-install the drivers for the card.

    If that fails, then do Plan B. Change PCI slots.

    Check the BIOS for APIC Function. Enable it. That will give each of your device its own IRQ (or as many as they need!). :)

    no APIC function on my board .. :p

    heh ...... swap like mad only get it to work ... sigh ....... now on IRQ 11 sharing with AGP

    what a "moody" firewire card.. only works when it wants to..
