Someone volunteer a hard drive!
Yep checked that out too Mike when I get my new drive this Maxtor is taking up diving
Looking at that as well Mike and let us know if you or the others have any other ideas its a go here
Actually its not a Maxtor forgot that went into a machine I sold to work it was 80G. So Mike lets see if this 40G Seagate SpinPoint can Scuba Dive ... more details coming soon ....
I think all drives can scuba dive as long as you sealed them up with breather tubes and only soak them in non-conductive fluids like cooking oil or engine oil.
We are going to find out
Oh yeah, it would be good to test the temperature difference if air-cooled or liquid-cooled.
Went grocery shopping this morning
Wow.. You went for a canola + sunflower blend? That's gotta be a little expensive.
Good for the heart but not so sure about the HDD!
Hee hee cheapest I could find in that size I didn't need a gallon jug of vegetable oil for anything
It's really interesting mac And wonders how it decrease temp too eh mac
Hee hee we will find out soon ... TO BE CONTINUED
PPS: We delayed because we weren't sure whether Mike Gas had interest on this or was just here for the Mobo contest .. J/K .. LOL
That's glue on the HDD? (on the sides)?
Silicon to seal it
hey I was interested .. .... still waiting for results, if this works, then later try one with breather hole .. hehehe ..
You sponsor HDD!
Hee hee will keep you posted I still have the tube I made up sitting here for one with a breather hole
I can sponsor one full of bad sector, then you do the drill ...
The mere sight of that photo makes me shudder.
Think the whole bunch of users here cant wait to see the results
LOL but won't work
One filled with bad sectors will confuse the hypothesis if the drive fails. Was it the drive or was it the oil
