hey please, no more about them ok?

and i believe The Star knows about us. why they don't appreciate the BOG or why they don't promote us, i don't care. i believe ARP is already a great site on it's own and can do very well even without The Star or any local newspaper's help.

you'll be surprised that the malaysian tech community actually makes up the negligile minority of visitors to this site. the BOG itself is already internationally known and promotion by word-of-mouth is doing great so far.

    my 2 sens.

ARP's BOG is very famous in many forum like sysopt, they always post the link to ARP when someone ask about bios setting

They don't do promotion and they proved it that they still can survive by the word of mouth. Hmm... your mouth really powerful you know. Can eat, can throw up, can kiss, can suck, can spit, etc. Wow! God's gift to the human race.

Hmm... in other words.. we also can be known as underground. Anyone correct me if I'm wrong.

hrm. the InTech crew did a review of a Ti4600 on P3 450. what do you think?

i've written a bunch of complaints to them. their reviews are unprofessional. even though they just used 3dmark01.......fine......and maybe QuakeIII as well. but you know what..... they didn't specify the detail levels, whether it's 16/32bit color and all the other stuff. heck i don't even recall them mentioning resolutions.

their reviews just doesn't justify the beauty of a Ti4600.

i think they cannot take critism... what do u think?

if u write praises... sure to get printed... but try correct their mistakes... u just get silence...

    eh

the star intech crew...they're just a bunch of generally aging journalists who occasionally game and dabble in hardware stuff lah...aka pseudo gamers who masquerade around with their railguns pointing backwards ;)

was that too harsh? sorry, but i joined a quake competition once that they organised, went there with some clanmates and Backroomers (Backroom was/is arguably the best quake clan in malaysia during our country's 'golden quaking age' if theres sucha thing)..well to cut a long long story short, it was nothing short of a rip off. i cant recall the exact details, but everything from the organization of the competition to the event proper felt like a farce. they dunno how to run a proper tournament server, heck even the tournament draws were screwed. not to mention mediocre umpiring on their behalf..do i hafta say more? suffice to say, we left the tournament with a sour taste in our mouths...but not before completely owning them in some free for all quaking that they call something to the line of 'Highlight Friendly Match of the Day!'

of cos, being hardcore quakers ourselves, we shouldve known better, but that experience really opened our eyes and made us realize that the star/intech dun care about niche communities like quakers and in Rojakpot's case, hardware enthusiasts. after the tournament, some of us actually wrote to them whilst some resorted to do some shameless public bashing of the whole fiasco (read: me during my childhood days apparently lol), all in effort to provoke some kinda response from them. and surprisingly, they did reply - though whether it helped to douse the flame or otherwise is anyone's guess since it happened oh so long ago.

anyways, my fingers got itchy halfway typing all these, and i've come up with some neat PI work. so if u've got 30mins of your life to waste, u can check out some of the shite we talked about here at an old gaming site that is now known as www.challenge-my.com:

    http://jove.prohosting.com/~nevaeh/comments/966047357,72530,.shtml

comments start from the bottom, so make sure u scroll all the way down.
intech's response buried sumwhere in the above link is also found here (easier version to read, just scroll down abit to the Intech headline):

oh well, nothing like reminiscing the days of yore :)

ps: so wats the bottom line? that intech has got commercialism plastered all over its wrinkled face :p

    yah! i agree wit u...

look at the coverage the twins get... and the zero coverage on other hw sites... heck, i initially thought they were the ONLY malaysian hardware site!

luckily, someone pointed me inthe right direction...

i think star was paid to run those articles on the twins. what's so good about them? did they write antything worth remembering? naaahhh... all cut + paste...

naw naw not the twins again.

but anyway. i couldn't care about In-Tech anymore. i used to collect their weekly pullout and treat their editors/writers as erm........some hero.

heck now.....i donno, they just disappoint me when they do bad reviews. i haven't read InTech for months and have not collected for years.

rather do my own reviews or read online.

Hehe... just here at the right time. I read it but not too much now. Just flip it through coz I usually don't buy newspaper and ask my fatther to bring it back from his office. :D

But too bad... there was a time when I read it cover to cover but not anymore. Has the articles' quality degraded or it's just me. Can't find anything interesting anymore except sometimes the games review. But I would already have bought the game by the time the review comes out. :wall:

i would've voted for "SOMETIMES" if it is there. but since it's a YES or NO , i will have to go for NO as it's the closest to what i'm doing now.

i think they have lost many readers
i remember reading once(i think it was the edition before Christmas 2002) when someone wrote in and said that her Athlon XP 2000+ was running at 1250MHz. Naturally, if she was directed here, we would have told her to change to the 133MHz FSB. But the In-Tech people were actually running around the problem and ended up concluding that she was probably cheated.

btw, nice site, been here for years but never registered in the forums.

Welcome to the ARP forums, Brian! :)

I think that's a really classic case, man! Quoted quite a few times by the hawks in these forums! Heheh...

I wonder if anyone from The Star is here... might be nice to get some "official" and unofficial feedback! LOL!
