The thing is the benchmark compilation is new, but the changes do not affect the results. The reason why I still kept the benchmark filename as 3.0 is because I don't want folks to assume it's a totally different version and start posting their results as 3.18 or 3.19.

  3. Chai

    Chai Administrator Staff Member

What I actually meant is, the benchmark version remains as 3.0, while the article should have a different title format which is completely different from the benchmark itself.

For example: x264 HD Benchmark 3.0 for the benchmark program, and x264 HD Benchmark 3.0 (Article Update 18) refers to the comparison guide.

  4. Adrian Wong

Adrian Wong Da Boss Staff Member

Actually, the benchmark package has been modified. Maybe I should just renamed it as 3.19 and let them post as 3.19 (or whatever revision). Just as long as everyone is clear that the results are the same and remain comparable.

    Thanks, bluestang!

BTW, if it's not too much trouble, can you retest at stock speed please? Thanks!

I don't suppose you take requests? If so can you add 2 lines under the results print to include average pass 2 and total average results?

I know you can just add it all up but it would be so much nicer if the bench just spit the numbers out for you.

In your post, in both the title and the link it says "x264 HD Benchmark 3.19"

At least to me it reads as if there's a new program, especially when the "link" has that title to it.

Hmm.. Good point. Never thought about that. We will look into it. Thanks for the suggestion! :thumb:

Actually, that should be the true version number of the benchmark because the files inside have changed. The only reason why I left the actual filename as 3.0 is to avoid people thinking that the results of 3.19 would be different (and not comparable) with other 3.x versions.

Thanks! But most of the credit goes rightfully to graysky. :thumb:

Don't be depressed. I am still using a Pentium EE 840, which used to be EXTREMELY expensive but as you can see, it's still slower than your Pentium D 945! :D
