Need help ! I have two notebooks on hand which are based on AMD CPU and the benchmark fail at each time. The first one is an Acer with an AMD Athlon II Neo K325 and the second one is a Sony VAIO based on Athlon II P320. Both of them are using Win 7 x64 French (with the last update), UAC is disabled, AVIsynth is installed. Sympthom : I can launch the benchmark, create the file .rtf file, but then x264.exe crashes everytime. I try every workaround that i find on your website but nothing works. Is a known issue ? Thanks in advance.
That's certainly very odd, as many of us are using Windows 7 x64 and have no problem running the benchmark. What error message do you get? Can you try opening a command prompt and run x264.exe itself? See if it runs.
Ahh...I used to have the same problem. When you key in the CPU multiplier and FSB speed, what did you type in? File names do not accept special characters like *

No. The first pass not only depends on rough core speed unlike the second. Hmm.. I really can't figure it out. Unless the storage speed really affects the performance of the encoder that much.
I'm not sure if memory timing or SSD is going to make that much difference. My i7 870 overclocked to 3.8GHz cannot even match that, even after factoring the additional 2 cores, and Intel is known to be much faster per clock.
