    about x264 hd benchmark

    Here's my results on:
    MB: Asrock 4CoreDual-SATA2.
    Memory: DDR2 1024 @ 346 MHz @ 4-4-4-12-2T
    CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E4700 @ 2.60GHz
    OS: Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 3 (Build 2600)

    Some opinions:
    I disagree what user "far.in.out" said about being a marketing tool,
    but he is right about using more complex settings and thus more image quality outputs.

    About using only 1-pass, i think some of us wants to test also 2-pass,
    it should be used as a choice (see choice command in Batch programming)for every user.
    Also should ask user in Batch if they overclocked the PC and include this in the report.

    I ask you to grep only useful information from CPU-Z (so that user don't needed to include information such, motherboard, multiplier x FSB) such as (IMO i think this makes more sense and brings clarity):

    I used for this example my motherboard, which isn't a bright one.

    Well, offering an option is nice but for the purpose of easy comparison, I think we should have the same set of results from everyone. Otherwise, some users might submit only partial results which would make comparisons difficult.

    Interesting, my pass 2 results are lower than the reported 49.77 for the 2600k at 5.00 GHz. Wonder what is different. However my first pass has higher results than what was reported for 2600k at 5.00 GHz.

    Please note for this benchmark the CPU is SLIGHTLY (86.1Mhz) overclocked due to the XMMS RAM profile (DDR3 2000).
    Since AMD Phenom 2 processors memory controller does not support DDR3-2000, the motherboard BIOS rised the base frequency from 200Mhz to 250 resulting in a huge overclock. so i've lowered the CPU multiplier to best match the stock frequency.
    Also, CPU-Z wrongly detected the CPU name (1105T in place of 1100T).

    AMD Phenom II X4 965 BE - not OC'd

    Pass 1 looks 2 fps faster than 955 BE on the list, while Pass 2 is 1 fps faster.

    Progress does not stand still evolving technology, increasing computing power of a PC.
    In this regard, I propose to replace the encoder used in the test x264_8bit, at the same x264_10bit, which is not only more resource demanding, but also better quality.
