During a spot of problem with my notebook, I suspected some spyware was installed in my system. So, I manually looked through c:\windows\system32\ and found this odd file - CleanUp.exe. No idea what it is... Does anyone else have this file? Here are some details about the file :
I searched for it and nope, I don't have any CleanUp.exe. How did it get installed in your system anyway?
http://www.google.com/search?q=CleanUp.exe And no results found at http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/vinfodb.html
I don't have it in my system folder either. A Google search turned up nothing dangerous. Maybe it's remnants of something you had previously installed?
No idea... I've tried checking online for adi CleanUp but got nothing... I'm just curious about what it really is... and how it got into my System32 folder cause I'm usually very careful about avoiding viruses and spywares. It would be good to know what it really is so I can avoid it in the future.
I have it on my system32 folder too, seem that not functioning as an exe file which no process running after double click
Woah... You double-clicked it?? It don't think it will appear in your Processes list, if it's a spyware or virus. Anyway, when I booted up in Safe Mode and tried to shut down the system, Windows XP will say that it's trying to close the program Sample. WTH... What's Sample??
Yup i tried to double-clicked it don't care, coz want to see the result.... Did u change anything or done anything in safe mode? close the program Sample

1031982, it somehow doesnt seem to match i mean .. we can have multiple CleanUp.exe but in different folders... so its possible it might not be the right one.. POSSIBLE only .
Nope. I just killed it so that Windows XP can shut down. It's there even if I just boot up Windows XP in Safe Mode (without doing anything else).
Nope. Don't think that's the same thing. Check its properties. If it's the same executable, the company should be listed as adi.
