OH SHIT! I had a shock! I made a stupid mistake trying to remove the standoff using the wrong tool and ripped off one of the voltage controllers! But I tried to solder back and now it's working again! Thank god!
Wow. That must have caused your heart to stop beating for a bit . Lucky you didn't rip any of the traces off the board... BTW you must have incredibly steady hands and really good eyesight...whenever I try to solder surface mount stuff bad things usually happen .
LOL! My hands are far from steady. I need to hold the soldering iron with 2 hands! And the soldering bit is so big, and the only way to solder is to whole the soldering iron straight up! *phew* Luckily...but the voltage controller looks crooked now.
good job on the repairs Chai. When i saw the thread, I thought it was some n00b, but eh, turns out to be Policeman Chai hehhee.
I'm still a noob, don't know how to remove the standoffs! First time using these Thermalright coolers...
wen i remove mine to fix hyper6 i almost nealrly break the whole board coz the thing jus wouldnt come out..
Afaik the IS7-G ist sold without any kind of mounting- holes for coolers like an Alpha and so on. If there are the same standoffs like these on the N7F-pic did you modd them by yourself? If so, you should know how to remove them. I guess they're mounted like on the Alpha, bolted from behind or screwed into the pcb itself (cause there are, as stated above, no mounting-holes on that mobo ^^).
You are right. When I got the motherboard, the Thermalright cooler was already installed onto the motherboard. But I need to remove the cooler to pass it to Zuephok, and I really didn't know how to remove it. My only experience with these sort of mounting is on Swiftech coolers. But I did found the right tool to remove the standoff after ripping off the IC! Learnt my lesson. But it was great fun trying to solder an IC.
