    Re: aGREE!!

    hmmm...

why japanese car makers are way better than proton ?

because they are DEDICATED TO WHAT THEY DO!!!
they work becasue they love it!

not some bunch of proton workers..
they work for money .. they dont even care bout dedication
for them .. as long as the car can be driver.. means OK ..

they are not finding ways to improve it ... they are findign ways to make money ..
to me.. they are totally outdated ppl ..

yes.. PROTON IS AN OUT-DATED COMPANY! ..

i rather drive have a perodua coz its quality is better ...

I agree with wiiz. True their workers are like that, but its the management's fault for not controlling or managing them. Good internal contorls must be implemented and a lot of supervision must be given to ensure that everything is running the way it should. Honestly though, I dont think that will ever happen if Proton is a Political company, after all, politicions arent businessmen. :snooty:

Again, nothing new from Proton. Take out the two rear doors, and call it the Satria. Make it longer, and call it the Putra. Transform it into a pickup, and call it the Arena.

The Tiara looks okay, though. But I doubt the quality will improve :p

Have you seen my aunt's Tiara? A real POS. Has been falling apart ever since she bought it.

Did he serviced his Tia with Proton?

If he didn't, it's a BIG mistake. He should service it to with a Citroen specialist.

PS: I'm speaking from my Dad's experience. He was driving his Citroen Xantia 2.0i to the East Coast(Kertih, Teregannu.) & it broke down( He blew a head gasket.). He brought it to an unexperienced under-the-tree service centre(The closest one he could find.), his baby broke down again, towed it back to KL & ended up with an expensive(But slightly discounted. He knows the towkay there.) bill from his usual Citroen specialist in Ampang. :|

Lesson: Alway bring your Citroen to an experienced Mechanic.

btw, the Tiara originally was a Citroen AX.

The Tiara's replacement was to be based on the Citroen Saxo. It was supposed to be in the market 4 years ago but was subsequently delayed due to some disagreements or breakdown in negotiations with Citroen.

from what i've read and understand to the best of my abilities. It seems to me that the main issue is over QC. Below is my response to that.

I believe Proton takes pride in what they do. Much like how we take pride in what we do or how ARP takes pride in BOG.

As a fledgling company Proton had to take its first steps with Mitsubishi closely watching over it and perhaps guiding it along the way. thats why we have ppl in here saying that their saga is better than their wira or "stinking iswara".

after the first few steps they introduced the wira and i'm sure we all agree on the fact that the wira is a best seller. and im sure you all have heard of the phrase "if it aint broken, dont fix it". the problems we all hear represent a sample of the entire population. and as such may not be sufficient evidence to conclude nor representative of the true situation.

another area with respect to QC is management philosophy. although there is no one right philosophy. perhaps Proton was slow to realise that it needed a shift to provide customers with the right perception of what Proton cars really are. Thats why we have Gen.2 and TRM & SRM coming soon.

Concerning the Lotus "borrowed" interiors. I'm pretty sure that it was meant to cut costs. For whatever reason the top management decided one can only wonder. Also dont forget just because you don't like it doesn't mean others do too.

note: it is rather unfortunate that I do not have sufficient statistics to back-up my arguments and present more arguments. But the opinion above is mine and mine alone derived from intuition and deduction. In my response I've tried to remain neutral and reply in a fashion free from bias to the best of my abilities. The above statement therefore is independent from my preference of foreign cars over Proton cars.

    mahakanjus,
what do you think of proton for overseas market are better quality than one they sold to us local?...and yet proton want us to support them?

Yeah, that's a good point. Proton's policy of selectively producing quality cars for the export market while producing substandard cars for the local market is a VERY sore point.

My aunt, who lives in the UK, was wondering why our Proton cars have "compressible" cabin tops while those in the UK have solid tops. It's no wonder people perceive Proton cars to be milo tin cars. You are as good as dead if a lorry slams into you.

Are Malaysians less worthy of quality cars? Why are we paying more for poorer quality cars? Is it right for us to subsidize Proton's expansion into foreign markets?

well, i cant see how they can be that different structurally. aren't all the cars manufactured for export and those for the local market built in the same plant? it makes no sense to have to seperate assembly lines.

well, maybe cars for export go through a more detailed QC process. which would be expected as cars meant for export represent an image of the country. what would you think if the imported cars we buy start falling apart as soon as we purchase them? in fairness we should note that our motoring industry still 'young' in comparison to the rest.

Well, that I have to disagree with you. Even though they come out from the same plant, does that mean they need to have 2 separate teams of QC? Isn't that unfair to us Malaysians?

Adrian Wong Da Boss Staff Member

Actually, no. The export models are definitely different.

My neighbour actually paid "under-counter" money to get an export model car. And the built and quality is distinctly superior to the local model. We are talking about the difference between a tank and a milo tin. :wicked:

Export models have to meet strict safety requirements and quality control before they can be sold overseas. You can see that in the export models. Not so in the local models. Do the local models look like they can pass strict safety tests in Europe and elsewhere? I seriously doubt it.

so is it okay for us malaysian buy cars that eventually falling apart?
why do we always have the inclination to treat foreigners better than our fellow countrymen?
