IIRC the distance also depends on how big your monitor is. My rule of thumb is to try and sit the furthest as possible Don't forget to take breaks once every hour so your eyes don't go bad!
i don't know what the recommended is, but I DO know that it must be AT LEAST 30 cm away from the monitor, anything less than that is dangerous.
If you have a MVA/PVA display I guess it does no matter how up or down it is.These LCD's are better to view from any angle
*coughs* I am anywhere from a a foot and half to 3 feet away from the monitor every day (80-90% of my waking hours). Being on the computer is taking a break for me. That and I have near perfect eyesight (0 on one eye, 10 on the other)...
It's about the same for me. I spend a lot of time in front of the PC though... although I have yet to glow in the dark!
Is there any ergonomics book that also discuss about those proper sitting positions at the computer? I can't sit on the PC for long enough, I might get too restless!
Not really. I think as long as you are comfortable, it should be okay! But it's good to take 5-10 minute breaks every hour or so!
