I stumbled upon this gem of a song while searching for another song. Okay, it's not something everyone will like but I found it really catchy and infectious. Who can believe that the Germans could come up with such a great song in the middle of a world war? I guess it only goes to show that despite our differences, we are ultimately quite alike. Check this out. It's a song called Ich brauche keine Millionen (Musik, Musik, Musik). Translated that means something like "I Don't Need Millions, Just Music, Music, Music". In this first video clip, the song was sung by Marika Rökk in 1939 : Here, it was sung by Rudi Godden & Johannes Heesters, also 1939 : This is the French version - Musique! Musique! Musique!, sung by Guy Berry (1940) : Here are the roughly translated lyrics :
Interesting music! You also must check out "Maenners Sind Schweine" and some songs from the Rammstein too.
Yeah, it's supposed to be swing music from the 1930s-1940s. I was looking for a song with the words musik, musik (or musique, musique) and found this instead.
It was written by Peter Kreuder and first shown 1939 in the german musical "Hallo Janine" and has been stolen by Sam Pattle (who wrote the theme of The Muppet Show). Here is his Website: http://peter-kreuder.de and here are interesting facts about his life: http://www.dradio.de/dkultur/sendungen/fazit/398837/ (sorry, both in german) Very funny: the eastern german national hymn melody has been sung first 1939 by Hans Albers in the film "Wasser für Canitoga": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15B-cOYY49k&feature=related the hymn: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DTV92wqYjfA
