she has been calling / visitting them for couple of times i think WiFi will work. but the funny thing is the laptop connects without problem in CIT i think maybe they connect directly to a router.
Might want to check if her computer is registered as a host in the dorm system. At least that is how it works here
No no, over here we have a system where we will only allow internet access if the host is registered to our servers. So if you have that kind of system where you need to register the hardware address to get an ip you should find out
boohoohoo!~ no one can help ? anyway, i've formatted that laptop & the network still doesnt connect to the dorm network at 100Mbps it always show connection is unplugged. it only connects at 10Mbps & the performance is sluggish i tried connecting it to my laptop & i dont have problem connecting at 100Mbps do you think i should try using a crossover cable to connect to the dorm ? if it doesnt work, whats the cheapest solution to this problem? buy a switch? or a cardbus ethernet?
I'd say it's the integrated LAN ... Try using a card instead (maybe some fren got one just for testing).
no, dont recall anyfriend using cardbus i'm considering this solution for my friend: buy a cheap network switch, plug her laptop to it & the wall LAN jack to the network switch
I dun get why the connection should work over a switch when it's not working directly ... But ok, you decide. ^^
i'm not sure if the dorm switches has some conflict with the network adapter on the laptop if i'm not wrong it works on other switch/router but no on dorm's wall jacks
But you've said it's working with yours ... or am I wrong? Or did you connect laptop <-> laptop? Ed.: Ok, my fault, so try a switch then. ^^
