i'm offered a Nikon D50 without kit lens for RM 2000, Comes with - full complete boxed set, mint condition - 1GB sandisk ultra II sd card - 2X Hoya 67mm UV filter - 1 X Hoya 62mm UV filter - Lowepro Nova 3 AW camera bag Age of item about 2 months, shutter-count less than 1K. is this a good buy? Initially I was eyeing on the Pentax K100D due to it having being 1. cheap 2. comes with shake-reduction 3. uses AA batteries then i saw people selling CANON EOS 350D kit ( with 18-55 only ) = RM 2550, almost same price as K100D. however coming by this D50 deal makes me think even further. would the N-D50 be a better option now or should i go 1st hand P-K100D / C-350D? I'm thinking of going Nikon / Canon due to them having a wider user-base, therefore higher possibility of getting compatible lens. so what do you guys suggest? the D50 seems like a better buy than the K100D isn't it? //please, kindly confine yourselfs to K100D compared to D50. K110D perhaps can compare, since it's the SR-less K110D. i don't intend to go Sony Alpha A100, Canon 400D or Nikon D70/D80. however you may provide additional feedback, just in case i miss anything.
Well ARP is primarily Nikon shooters (except a few people from the canon camp - I'm one of em.) Cypris actually has a 350D. Hopefully she can give you some insight.
If you planning to buy a lot of lenses, get either Canon or Nikon. The price of the D50 seems ok to me.
yes. lense option is a matter of considering, that's why though the K100D and S-AlphaA100 are tempting with their SR they're not in priority now. and damn that Sony is selling at RM 2,999 for bodykit alone. checked out Canon shop, 350D comes at RM 2,799 with kit lens and stuff. i think i'll go for the D50.
would you consider a 2nd hand D70s instead? There's quite a few selling at pretty good price at MIR FTZ. I think a lot are letting letting it go to upgrade to D80 or D200. But otherwise, the D50 price is ok just get the body... the D50 kit lens is crap. and as for the the Pentax... don't get it unless u already have pentax lens.. it's quite hard to get these lenses 2nd hand.
