Our Dato Seri Adrian and I though it would be a good idea to post up simple prespecified specs for newbies and people who can't really be bothered to read or do reseach, enabling them easily buy PC setups without much fuss. Plus I'm sure everyone would like their say in what they consider the best rig for the money right? And if all goes well, this might just be linked under the price guide for all to see.

This of course was an idea i brough forth from my days in LYN, but the majority of morons there just clogged up the forums with more "what specs should i get?" Threads. But i believe this could work here, so i give you, the recommended rigs of the month thread!

We'll be covering 3 major setups here, all of them fully built from the ground up assuming that user has nothing but a power point and some marbles, heck maybe a table and chair, but generally we're going to assume the user has no prior setup. This means everything down to the mouse and speakers here.

I'm concentrating on 3 setups, Entry level, Mid Level, Superior Level, each with a price point of 3k, 5k and 7k ringgit. I think that should do it, although if you wanna discuss the price point, go ahead and post. You can even post "Veli Lich" level specs if you're up to it. And i recommend using the price lists provided so that our prices can stay consistent ;)

So let's get on the discussion, and heck i hope it gets popular enough for stick status.

Here's my recommendations for the month

    Why all of them 8800GTS?

Questionable availibility of the 8800GTX over there?

    Why EVGA Geforce 8800GTS ACS3 - RM 2500 when 8800GTX is only RM2300+?

Heheheh, better got panoramic screens with the maxtrox triple head or triple screen spanning....or wait.... THREE 30inchers! YAY.

Anyways the ACS3 is supposed to be GTX lah, typo mah. And i selected the 7900GS because to me, it's a card with great value for money and tons of OCing headroom, the 320mb version of the 8800 is great for gaming if you ask me and perfectly suits a general high end PC.

I would actually dump the 7900 GTS for a 7600 GT and get a bigger monitor... :haha: :haha:

1.5k-1.8k is the avg price my friends and family members would pay for an "entry level" machine. if it includes monitor is usually around 2k.

For the rock bottom budget rig, a Sempron 3400+, or a Celeron D 352, or an Athlon 64 3200+, or a Pentium 4 531/630 will do. Push up some more ringgit and you'll get Pentium D 915 or an X2 3600+. All of them are great too. But if you want more of it, you might get the E4300, but the price is just RM50~70 shy from a E6300, so I rather get more FSB. Is it? :D
